Gina Fischer for Santa Barbara City Council District 6

About Me

I have extensive experience in public service, non-profit leadership, and leading and creating change on the Central Coast.

I am running because maintaining trust in local government is critically important to the health of our democracy, especially in light of such uncertainty in our national political landscape. My experience and energy can help move us forward in solving some of our most pressing local challenges.

Santa Barbara is special because of our natural environment, open space, and our high-quality of life.

I have been talking with voters door-to-door to learn about their concerns and aspirations for our city for many months. Residents are concerned about insufficient affordable housing downtown, public safety and safe streets for our children, traffic and development that is perceived to be not well-planned or suited to neighborhoods. Others express a real concern about climate change and better preparing our neighborhoods and residents for natural disasters. So many folks want to see fun and vibrancy on State Street.

I love Santa Barbara and I believe my experience and energy will add positive leadership at City Hall. I look forward to bringing a problem-solving approach – creating collaborative models to addressing some of our most pressing challenges so future generations can enjoy this special place.
